This project was one that is very personal to me. The character is one that I designed for a comic that I am working on and wanted to see him in 3D form. IN theory, I would like to eventually use scenes from this comic as a basis for future shorts.
I wanted it to be something that looked good but that wouldn't overwhelm my modest computer rig, so I aimed to create a relatively low-poly set up with UDIM layouts that are enough to show detail but not so much that we would be zooming into the skin pores.
A goal for this project was also to utilize blender to practice executing tasks that have become second nature in Maya and recreate it in the powerful free program. Although it was sculpted in ZBrush.
I created a simple rig for the character including a facial mocap set up so, I hope that in the future I find the time and motivation to create shorts with Javi.
